A linha de camisas "Carpinense" é resultado de uma colaboração exclusiva com a camisaria Facheiro, localizada em Caruaru. Nesta coleção, explorei com total liberdade os ricos elementos da cultura popular nordestina, pernambucana e, mais especificamente, carpinense. O título escolhido para essa coleção, "Carpinense", reflete o fato de que meu primeiro contato com algumas das inspirações presentes nas peças remonta à minha infância em Carpina, uma cidade do interior de Pernambuco.
A coleção apresenta três estampas distintas, cada uma contando sua própria história visual: "Maracatu Atômico", "Cumade Fulôzinha" e "Carranca". Cada peça é uma manifestação única da riqueza cultural que permeia as tradições e memórias da região nordestina.

The "Carpinense" shirt line is the result of an exclusive collaboration with Facheiro, a shirt maker located in Caruaru. In this collection, I explored with complete freedom the rich elements of Northeastern, Pernambucan, and specifically Carpinense popular culture. The chosen title for this collection, "Carpinense," reflects the fact that my initial encounter with some of the inspirations present in the pieces dates back to my childhood in Carpina, a town in the interior of Pernambuco.
The collection features three distinct prints, each telling its own visual story: "Atomic Maracatu," "Cumade Fulôzinha," and "Carranca." Each piece is a unique manifestation of the cultural richness that pervades the traditions and memories of the Northeastern region.

Primeiro, dei início ao projeto elaborando esboços para visualizar as possíveis representações artísticas. Essa etapa proporciona uma maior liberdade, facilitando o surgimento das ideias de forma mais fluida.

I initially began the project by creating drafts to envision how the artworks would take shape. This phase allows for greater freedom, making it easier for ideas to emerge more seamlessly.

A ilustração "Maracatu Atômico", desenvolvida em parceria com a Facheiro para integrar a coleção "Carpinense", traz consigo uma autêntica essência da cultura popular pernambucana. A ideia central foi destacar a figura do "cabloco de lança", já icônica no imaginário popular pernambucano, complementada por um letreiro com raízes na cultura popular. Para a elaboração do letreiro, me inspirei no estilo do mestre Filipe Grimaldi, reconhecido Letrista, Artista, Designer e Pesquisador dos letreiros populares brasileiros.

The illustration "Atomic Maracatu," developed in collaboration with Facheiro to be part of the "Carpinense" collection, carries an authentic essence of Pernambuco's popular culture. The central idea was to highlight the figure of the "cabloco de lança," already iconic in the popular imagination of Pernambuco, complemented by a sign rooted in popular culture. In crafting the sign, we drew inspiration from the style of the master Filipe Grimaldi, a renowned Letterer, Artist, Designer, and Researcher of Brazilian popular signage.

Quem nunca sentiu arrepios ao ouvir um assobio e pensar na cumade?
Na ilustração da Cumade Fulôzinha, explorei uma perspectiva um tanto diferente da figura dela. Em vez de retratar a imagem que evoca temor pelos possíveis castigos físicos a quem adentra as florestas, busquei transmitir a ideia da Cumade como protetora de nossa fauna e flora! A tipografia escolhida foi a J.J Carpinense, inspirada nos letreiros populares desenvolvidos por meu avô em Carpina.

Who has never felt shivers hearing a whistle and thinking about Cumade?
In the illustration of Cumade Fulôzinha, I explored a somewhat different perspective of her figure. Instead of depicting an image that instills fear due to potential physical punishments for those who enter the forests, I aimed to convey the idea of Cumade as a protector of our fauna and flora! The chosen typography was J.J Carpinense, inspired by the popular signs developed by my grandfather.

Carrancas, também conhecidas como "Figuras da barca", "Leão da barca" ou "Cara de pau", são originalmente ornamentos de proa das primeiras embarcações a navegar no Rio São Francisco, por volta da segunda metade do século 19. Inicialmente concebidas como meros adornos para as embarcações, logo passaram a ser associadas à função protetora. Quanto mais "horripilante" a carranca, maior a crença de que ela ofereceria proteção aos tripulantes contra possíveis ataques de maus espíritos! A tipografia escolhida para a ilustração foi inspirada nos letreiros pintados à mão nos barcos do Pará.

Carrancas, also known as "Figuras da barca" (Boat figures), "Leão da barca" (Boat lion), or "Cara de pau" (Wooden face), are originally prow ornaments from the first boats to navigate the São Francisco River, around the second half of the 19th century. Initially conceived as mere decorations for vessels, they soon became associated with a protective function. The more "horrifying" the carranca, the stronger the belief that it would offer protection to the crew against potential attacks by
evil spirits! The typography chosen for the illustration was inspired by hand-painted signs on boats in Pará.
